Without a home

Well, I’m not really sure how this has happened but I find myself miserable and without a true home. Of course, I guess I consider a real home to be one filled with a wife and kids. Since that is not going to happen any time soon, I guess I am now looking at buying a duplex with my brother (who will be splitting his half with his Moldovan girlfriend).

This is not a bad deal. Really a future investment.

Let’s Extend the Weekend…

After this weekend, I can officially say that globally we, as humans, should agree to make the weekend a 3-day event. Either Friday, Saturday and Sunday or create a new day to go in-between Saturday and Sunday. As you can guess, I didn’t really get any time for myself to sit down and read a book, or play some video games, or go for a run.

I know I’m griping a little bit, but I spent 12 hours Saturday working on an assignment for my master’s class. Then on Sunday, I spent all afternoon getting caught up on paperwork for school. So, it is now 8:30 pm on Sunday night and all I want to do is go to sleep but I feel like I owe myself some down time.

(I HATE how hitting enter skips 2 spaces on this thing).

Perhaps I will read for an hour or so to close off the weekend.

Lacking Drive…..

I really wish I were a little more devoted to making more routine posts on my blog. As an educator in the 21st century this is something that I should really get used to doing because over 75% of my students are probably staying up until really early in the morning to read other people’s blog posts, as well as write their own.

It is late at night (for me) and I just recently got home from racquetball, am having a beer, and trying to collect all necessary materials for the project I need to complete this weekend for my master’s course. This was an extensive thing to do and took me a couple of hours to find the “just right” image on Google that I plan to use in my 18-slide PhotoStory. This is a new program to me, so it should be fun to mess around with it and complete this assignment in time to add it to the class dropbox and post it on another blog created specifically for this class.

I have been looking at this whole Twitter thing because it was on the news this morning. It sounds interesting, but I am not sure who would be on it that wants to know what I am doing and that I can keep up with what seems like a large posting requirement.

Dating…. I guess I won’t really go there right now because it’s depressing.

Work… same old, same old. Yet another grading program (3 in 5 yrs) will be introduced this April and I am responsible for training all of my department on how to use this system.

Sports… Indoor Soccer is going well. The facility is nice and close by, plus it is a good way too keep in shape. Professionally, I am really hoping the Bruins can win the Stanley Cup this year because that will be the last New England team in my lifetime.

Other… I am starting to get interesting in buying a house but am frustrated to learn that I may not be quite financially ready. Or at least, ready to buy a house that satisfies my terms of what I am looking for.

Well. That’s the most recent update. I am going to try and be more diligent with posting, though I’m not sure why because I could care less who reads it. This is just a way to get my thoughts on paper without having journals lying around all over the apartment.

Been a long time

Well. It has certainly been quite a while since my last post, and I am not entirely sure why I am making this one through my iPhone but here it is anyways.

Not a whole lot of anything has really been happening with me as I have just been going through the normal work grind as I see others around me battling with the economy the way it currently is. Obama is now president and I can’t tell you adequately exactly how annoyed I am with people, including my students who are idolizing this man when he hasn’t done anything yet. Please, let this man (who, yes, has accomplished an historic an important feat by becoming president in the first place) achieve something for the American people before we pit his words in stone. For all we know, he could turn out to have a terrible presidency. I will acknowledge though that be has a long road ahead of him as he has inherited an almost impossible situation. His speeches are not outstanding and just some off as typical democratic promises. This is truly a case where we need to watch and see if his “actions will indeed speak louder than his words.”

Now on to some very exciting happenings in New England that have not occured in the likes of 25 years: the Boston Bruins are just dominating the league. It is my hope as well as other hockey fans in NE that these Bruins will finally bring the Stanley Cup back to Boston. With the recent successes of the Patriots, Red Sox, and most recently the Celtics one cannot help but feel it is finally the Bruins’ turn.

If you are from NE and are a hockey fan then let us all hope that the Bruins are returning to their franchises historic ways!

Much Ado About Nothing….

Not only is this one of the best Shakespearean plays and subsequent movies, but it really sums up the craziness of my past four to five weeks. I have been going non-stop with soccer, master’s, teaching, watching the Red Sox (who are now in the ALCS thank you, very much), playing racquetball, and catching the Patriots when I think they have the chance to win without Tom Brady.

So, essentially I am wearing thin and can’t wait until at least soccer is over (considering we have a losing season and might not even make playoffs), which will free up more of my time. As a matter of fact, I have been sitting on my butt for so long recently that I have lost all of the stamina I worked so hard building up this summer running every day. I went running this afternoon during a break from my paper and I was highly disappointed how tired I got and how quickly.

Well, the game is getting really interesting and there are some other stuff I could be doing. This means I’ll have to get back to you.

Patriots Week 1: v. Chiefs

Well the start of the 2008 NFL season for the Patriots has gotten off to a rough start, primarily the injury to Tom Brady. After his departure the game quickly took on a feel of a pre-season meeting. The good thing about the injury situation (if there really is one, that is) is that Matt Cassell clearly held his own throwing a TD pass to Randy Moss and no interceptions. He even ran for a couple of short first downs including one involving a nice juke of the defender. I think that with Brady in the game the score would not have been so close (the Pats only won 17-10).

With any hope, Brady will get enough rest this week and his injury isn’t as serious as it looked (he did walk off the field after all) that he will be able to return next week and face Brett Favre up in New York. On a side not, Sammy Morris had an impressive first game and the Pats’ defense did look solid with just a small lapse at the end of the game when Kansas City made its run to tie the game in the last minute.

The annoying part will be how much Brady’s injury is yet again analyzed by every critic and wannabe out there. My advice: don’t turn the sports news on until sunday morning and let’s just see what happens.
